NARI Gives a Helping Hand
Curlee Remodel

Giving back is always something our team at Wild Creek has been passionate about. A couple years ago we rebranded our business from C. Haynes Construction to Wild Creek Custom Renovations. In the process, our team began thinking of more ways to get involved in our community here in Austin, Texas. A number of options were discussed but none seemed like a good fit for our crew, or something that we found passion in. Early last year, NARI reached out to us about the Curlee family who live in the same town as our home office. After learning more about their story and need for a home remodel, we were excited to jump at the opportunity to help them as it fit our skills perfectly.

A few weeks later, we were able to meet the Curlee’s and were overly impressed with their resilience and incredibly positive attitudes even though life had tried to bring them down!

Over the next few months we got to see up close Christi’s incredible design skills, as she optimized the floor plan of this house to make it ADA friendly. She also chose all the design selections using donated materials. Alongside the NARI board we were able to come up with a scope of work and a rough base cost to complete the project.

What happened over the next year was an amazing experience to be a part of. Initially, the amount of resources needed to pull this project off seemed almost insurmountable. The NARI board and many of the long term members all pitched in to lead the way in fundraising, compiling some of our best trade partners, and getting the word out there on what was needed.

Over 30 businesses and at least 50 different employees of those companies all enthusiastically pitched in to donate their time, labor, and materials. Many other people donated almost $10,000 dollars towards this project. Because of these incredible donations, we were able to finish a $175,000 retail cost project for a fraction of the cost. Truly incredible!

It has been an honor and also humbling to lead this project. Construction companies sometimes have a bad reputation, but seeing all of these people drop what they’re doing to go help a total stranger out, and in doing so, make a difference, is truly inspiring. Being a part of a local project like this gives us great hope for our future!

Michael and Joy, we thank you for your patience on this project and we hope you both enjoy your new home!
